We used to make things in this country. #170: The Stowell Screw Co. Ltd., Longueuil, Québec

This firm was around at least since the 40's, when they had 119 of their employees willing to submit to chest X-rays:

The Montreal Gazette, November 23, 1944

At some point, they were acquired by the Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation.  Gone now, and all that seems to remain to remember them by is this old pasteboard box.

Very much like your post. I current have screenshot photos of some 30 different brands of screws. Most are USA with a handful from other countries including Canada, Portugal, Sweden, and Hong Kong. The obituary for Southern Screw noted that they were once the largest manufacturer of wood screws in the US, but they were slow to respond to the flood cheap imports from Asia. Most of the obituaries make note of a date of closing sometime between 1960 and 1970. I purchase slotted flat head brass (wood) screws in certain sizes and offer them for sale at our little Shop: BrassScrewUSA@ETSY.com.
