We used to make things in this country. #157: Western Clock Company Ltd. (Westclox), Peterborough, Ontario

The Western Clock Company Limited was headquartered in Peru, Illinois but established a Canadian division in 1919 and opened a factory in Peterborough in 1920, building a larger one in 1922. The factory operated for 60 years until being closed down in the early 1980's.

The factory is now an apartment complex.

In 2012, the original Peru factory was destroyed in a fire set by two teenage arsonists.
