Trading on the Ottawa River

Robert Legget, Ottawa Waterway, Gateway to a Continent, University of Toronto Press 1975.

Indians bringing a load of furs from Lake Kipawa into the Ottawa river in 1902. Interesting that this was going on in the 20th C. The canoe, on its way to a Hudson's Bay Company post, also carries rolls of birch-bark, presumably for potential repairs.
